Seeing the traditional processing techniques of Parmigiano Reggiano is an experience that fascinates people of all ages, a unique way of seeing the culture of Emilia Romagna and discovering how one of the most important local products is born.
During the tour you’ll visit a Parmigiano Reggiano producer based in the planes around Bologna. This is a truly artisan producer making about 30 wheels of the finest Parmesan per day. This experience requires a very early start in the morning to ensure that you see the entire process of making the authentic Parmigiano Reggiano DOP. You will discover why the production of this revered cheese is limited to a restricted area in the Emilia Romagna Region and why its maturation times are so much longer than most other cheeses. As part of your PARMIGIANO REGGIANO experience, you will taste the cheese at the various stages of maturation and you’ll be amazed by the high shelves of the maturation room. For kids there will be a complimentary notebook and pencils for drawing and writing during the visit. They will have the chance to touch and feed cows.
